Our Angle on Beast Lab
From a Certain Point of View
In the lead-up to the holiday season, Moose approached Likely to create a promotional video for the launch of its new Beast Lab toy. We were pumped!
Where was this amazing product when we were kids?!
Our brainstorm session led us to imagine a particular first-person perspective. What if we could see through the eyes of a kid hero, experimenting and creating for the first time? How could our video augment the sounds, colors, and feelings of the Beast Lab experience?
Enter the POV helmet.
With a camera attached to the front, this ridiculous-looking helmet is actually a very effective piece of filmmaking equipment. It allowed us to capture the angle we needed for the commercial, and it became the catalyst for some fun bonus videos.
Not Normal
Likely isn’t a typical video production company. In this case, we were able to serve our client while also creating original content to entertain our followers.
On one hand: we delivered a professionally-produced commercial, including:
An approved script with brand language
Set design, fog, and lighting effects
Footage captured with a cinema camera
Music, sound effects, and pro voiceover
Polished editing and color grading
And on the other hand: we created a video for our own social media channels, with:
A scroll-stopping hook
Behind-the-scenes clips to show how we work
A shorter version of the full commercial
More than 20K organic views from our followers
A New Challenge
After publishing our Beast Lab video, we received a viewer comment that seemed like a dare:
“I felt you didn’t take full advantage of the helmet.”
So we created this video as a response, and we may have had too much fun in the process.
