At Likely, we've always been avid fans of content creators who go the extra mile to stand out in a crowded digital landscape. Most creators stick to conventional hats, stickers, and logos on t-shirts. But Becki & Chris have taken merchandising to a whole new level. Our Unauthorized Commercials series isn't just about creating fun videos. It's about producing content "on spec" to help introduce ourselves to creators and brands we love. It's a creative challenge, a form of networking, and a way to provide authentic value – without asking for anything in return.

What’s a Cinemagraph, and Why Did We Try It?

A cinemagraph is a unique hybrid, like a mix between a photograph and a video. It features elements that are still and elements that are in motion. Although we’d never created a cinemagraph before, it seemed like a fun challenge. Plus, we believed it could be genuinely useful on Becki & Chris's product webpage.

On our YouTube channel, we published a video (see below) that walks through our process of creating this cinemagraph, providing behind-the-scenes details like:

  • How we set the scene to appear rainy on a sunny day

  • How we used layers of stock video to enhance motion

The Reaction

Once we completed the cinemagraph project, we couldn't wait to share it with Becki & Chris. So, we tagged them when we released our video, and the response was more than we could have hoped for.

Becki & Chris loved our work, leaving a heartfelt comment and even sharing it with their audience. In doing so, Becki & Chris introduced their audience to us, creating a synergy that felt just right.
